Gum specialist · Department of Periodontics
A periodontist is a dentist with a three-year MDS in periodontology. The work is the gums and the bone that hold teeth in place: treating gum disease, saving loose teeth, gum surgery, bone grafting and placing dental implants.
At AR 32 Signature Smiles, Dr Avinash Bamane or Dr Rashmi Bamane sees you first. When your case needs an MDS periodontist, we arrange one for you, by prior appointment, at our Kharadi clinic.

After your treatment
- After gum surgery, do not spit, rinse hard or use a straw for the first day. Let the clot settle.
- Use an ice pack on the cheek, 15 minutes on and 15 off, for the first few hours.
- From the second day, rinse gently with warm salt water after meals and keep to soft, cool food for a few days.
- Stitches are checked or removed after about a week. Bone grafts and implants take three to six months to firm up.

Questions patients ask
What is the difference between a cleaning and a deep cleaning?
A regular cleaning removes deposits above the gum line. A deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) reaches below the gum to the roots, where gum disease does its damage.
Why are my teeth getting loose?
Usually because gum disease has destroyed some of the bone around them. Treating the infection early can stop it, and in some cases bone can be rebuilt.
Do bleeding gums matter if they do not hurt?
Yes. Bleeding is the first sign of gum disease, and gum disease is usually painless until teeth start to loosen.
