An oral radiologist is a dentist with a three-year MDS in oral medicine and radiology. The work is dental imaging: choosing the right X-ray or scan, keeping the dose as low as possible, and reading 3D CBCT scans for implants, wisdom teeth and difficult root canals.

After your treatment
- Remove earrings, necklaces, hairpins and glasses before a scan. Metal blurs the image.
- Stand still for the 10 to 15 seconds the machine takes. It is silent and painless.
- Tell us before any X-ray if you are or may be pregnant. Routine X-rays are postponed.

Questions patients ask
Are dental X-rays safe?
Digital dental X-rays use a very small dose. We only take an X-ray when it changes the decision, and we limit a CBCT to the area that needs to be seen.
Why a 3D CBCT instead of a normal X-ray?
A normal X-ray is flat. A CBCT shows bone width and exactly where nerves and sinuses are, which matters before implants and difficult extractions.
How often do I need X-rays?
There is no fixed schedule. It depends on your teeth: more often during active treatment, rarely when everything is healthy.
