Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom Tooth Extraction — Surgical

Wisdom teeth are graded by how they sit in the jaw, because that decides how they are removed and how recovery goes. "Surgical" is one of six grades we use, from Easy to Nerve Proximity. The grade is set after the examination and X-ray, never from the outside alone.

₹14,000per wisdom tooth, after X-ray assessment

What it is

The tooth lies deep in the bone, often horizontal or fully covered. Removal needs a planned surgical approach with bone removal and stitches, carried out by an MDS oral and maxillofacial surgeon by prior appointment. Your dentist shows you the X-ray, explains why your tooth falls in this grade, and gives you the fee before anything starts.

Who it is for

  • A deeply impacted or horizontal wisdom tooth
  • A tooth fully covered by bone with symptoms
  • A tooth that must come out before braces or other treatment

How it is done

  1. Examination and X-ray; a CBCT scan only if the nerve or sinus needs a closer look
  2. Medical history and medicines reviewed
  3. Local anaesthetic
  4. Removal, usually with a small gum opening and the tooth divided
  5. Stitches if needed, gauze, and written aftercare

Time: One planned surgical visit, plus a review.

Afterwards

  • Bite on gauze; no spitting, straws or smoking for at least 24 hours
  • Cold packs on the first day, then warm salt-water rinses as advised
  • Soft food for a few days
  • Swelling usually peaks on day two or three and then settles

What to know before you decide

Swelling, stiffness of the jaw and some bruising are common after harder extractions. Less common risks include dry socket, infection and, for lower teeth near the nerve, temporary or rarely lasting numbness of the lip or tongue. Your risk is explained for your own X-ray before you consent.

Common questions

Does every wisdom tooth need to come out?

No. A healthy, well-positioned wisdom tooth that you can clean can stay. Removal is advised for pain, infection, decay, damage to the tooth in front, or cysts.

Why does the fee depend on the grade?

Harder positions take longer, need more skill and sometimes a specialist surgeon, so the grade decides the fee.

Can both sides be done together?

Sometimes. Your surgeon will advise based on difficulty and your recovery.
