do ar 32 specialists give second opinions

By Dr Avinash Bamane (A-18814) · Last reviewed 23 October 2026 · 451 words

The short answer

Yes, in practice. We don't sell a separate second-opinion package, but you can book a regular consultation with Dr Avinash or Dr Rashmi Bamane, bring your existing X-rays and treatment plan, and get an independent view. If the question needs specialist judgement, they can arrange an MDS specialist consultation at our Kharadi clinic.

Second opinions are healthy. Dental treatment is often expensive and can't be undone, and there is usually more than one reasonable way to treat a problem. A good dentist won't be offended that you asked.

When a second opinion is worth getting

  • You have been told you need several root canals, crowns or implants at once.
  • Extraction has been suggested for a tooth you would like to keep, or a root canal for a tooth that doesn't hurt.
  • A large plan comes with pressure to decide the same day, or a "today only" discount.
  • The quote is far above, or far below, what you expected.
  • Treatment has been done and isn't settling: a root-canal-treated tooth still hurts, or a crown keeps coming loose.

What to bring

  • Your X-rays, including any OPG (full-mouth X-ray) or CBCT scan, on film, as a print or on your phone.
  • The written treatment plan and quotation.
  • A list of your medicines and health conditions.
  • Notes on what was done, if treatment has already started.

We may still need our own digital X-ray if the old ones are unclear or out of date; our current published fee for an RVG X-ray is ₹500.

How we approach it

Dr Avinash or Dr Rashmi Bamane examines you and reviews what you have brought. If the question needs specialist judgement, such as whether a failed root canal can be redone or whether an implant is really needed, they arrange a consultation with the right MDS department. You will get an honest view, and sometimes that view is that the first plan was sensible. If we agree with your first dentist, we will say so, and you are free to go back to them.

A booked consultation is ₹500, and an MDS specialist consultation is ₹1,500, by prior appointment. There is no obligation to have treatment with us afterwards.

Common outcomes

  • The first plan holds up. You go ahead with more confidence, wherever you choose to be treated.
  • A simpler option exists. For example, a filling instead of a crown, or monitoring instead of immediate treatment.
  • The order changes. Gum treatment first, then crowns, for example.
  • Something was missed. Occasionally a second look finds an additional problem that changes the plan.

What a second opinion can't do

We can only judge what we can see today. If a tooth was treated elsewhere, we can't always tell what happened during the procedure, and we won't guess about another dentist's work beyond what the evidence shows. Where two reasonable options exist, we will explain both rather than simply declare one dentist right.

This answers a general question. It is not a diagnosis, and it cannot account for what is actually happening in your mouth. If something hurts, get it looked at — by us or by anyone.

Want this looked at properly?

Kharadi runs late. Reception will tell you honestly whether you need an appointment yet.
