can i meet the specialist before agreeing to treatment

By Dr Rashmi Bamane (A-22726) · Last reviewed 23 October 2026 · 455 words

The short answer

Yes. You can book an MDS specialist consultation, ₹1,500, by prior appointment at our Kharadi clinic, before agreeing to any specialist treatment. The specialist examines you and explains the options, risks and cost, and you decide afterwards in your own time. Meeting the specialist does not commit you to having treatment.

You should meet the person who will do your surgery, root canal or braces before you agree to it. For planned specialist treatment with us, that meeting is the MDS consultation.

How it works

  1. You see Dr Avinash or Dr Rashmi Bamane first. They examine you and suggest which specialist you need.
  2. We book an MDS consultation at Kharadi, by prior appointment. Our current published fee is ₹1,500.
  3. The specialist examines you, reviews your X-rays and explains the options. For some implant, wisdom tooth or complex root canal cases, a CBCT scan (a 3D X-ray) may be advised; we will tell you where it is done and what it costs.
  4. You get the plan and the cost, and then you decide.

On the day

Arrive 15 minutes before your slot; arriving 20 minutes or more late cancels the appointment without a refund, because the specialist's time is set aside only for you. Eat something an hour or two before, bring your old X-rays and a list of your medicines, and tell us about diabetes, blood pressure, thyroid problems, blood thinners, pregnancy or breastfeeding. If the visit falls during working hours, our Kharadi clinic's later timings may make it easier to fit around the office.

Questions worth asking the specialist

  • What exactly will you do, and how many visits will it take?
  • What are the risks for me in particular, given my health and my X-rays?
  • What happens if I choose a simpler option, or wait?
  • What will recovery be like? Can I go to work the next day?
  • Will I need someone with me? (For surgery, you should bring a companion and not ride or drive yourself home.)
  • What is the total cost, including X-rays, scans, temporary work and the final crown or restoration?
  • Who do I contact if I have pain after the procedure?
  • What is your MDS speciality and State Dental Council registration number?

Write the answers down, or ask for them in writing. Nervous patients often forget half of what was said in the chair, and that is completely normal.

You are not committing to anything

A consultation is just that. You can go home, think it over, talk to your family and come back, or not come back. We would much rather you take a week to decide than agree under pressure and regret it. Nobody at our clinic is paid on what you spend.

If you decide to go ahead

Surgery is confirmed with an advance, and surgeon appointments must be booked at least three days ahead, so build that time into your plans, especially if you need leave from work. Our booking engine shows the specialist panel by department, and our MDS departments page explains what each specialist does.

This answers a general question. It is not a diagnosis, and it cannot account for what is actually happening in your mouth. If something hurts, get it looked at — by us or by anyone.

Want this looked at properly?

Kharadi runs late. Reception will tell you honestly whether you need an appointment yet.
