Dental erosion and acid wear clinical representation

Symptom Breakdown

What you feel Teeth appear smooth, shiny, and yellowish due to thinning enamel. You may notice transparent biting edges, cratering on chewing surfaces, and severe generalized sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweets.
Why it happens Chemical dissolution of the tooth structure caused by chronic exposure to stomach acids from Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), frequent vomiting, or high consumption of acidic foods/drinks.
Clinical Advice
  • DO NOT brush immediately after an acid reflex or vomiting episode; the enamel is softened and brushing will strip it away. Rinse with water or baking soda instead.
  • Consult a physician to manage the underlying GERD or acidity.
Treatment Note Prescription fluoride therapies, desensitizing agents, composite resin bonding to replace lost volume, or dental crowns/veneers for severe structural wear.

Rebuild Your Worn Enamel

Acid erosion silently dissolves the protective outer layer of your teeth, exposing the sensitive, softer dentin underneath. Once enamel is lost, the body cannot regenerate it. By addressing the root cause and physically restoring the lost tooth structure, we can eliminate sensitivity and protect your bite.
