Symptom Breakdown

What you feel Your upper and lower teeth do not fit together naturally when you close your mouth. You may have difficulty chewing tough foods, frequently bite your inner cheeks or tongue by accident, or experience chronic jaw pain (TMJ) and muscle fatigue from an unbalanced bite. Your facial profile may also appear altered.
Why it happens An abnormal bite (malocclusion) is often genetic—resulting from a mismatch in jaw sizes (e.g., a small lower jaw causing a severe overbite). It can also develop from prolonged childhood habits like thumb-sucking, tongue thrusting, or the premature loss of baby teeth causing adult teeth to erupt into the wrong positions.
Clinical Advice
  • Do not ignore a bad bite just because it doesn't hurt right now. An uneven bite forces specific teeth to bear all your chewing pressure, leading to rapid enamel wear, micro-cracks, and eventual tooth loss.
  • The longer you wait, the more your jaw joints (TMJ) have to compensate, leading to chronic facial pain and clicking over time.
Treatment Note Comprehensive 3D bite mapping, Clear Aligner Therapy (discreet orthodontics), traditional braces, or, in severe skeletal cases, orthognathic (jaw) surgery.

Balance Your Bite and Protect Your Jaw

An abnormal bite is far more than an aesthetic concern; it is a functional defect that threatens the long-term survival of your teeth and jaw joints. When your teeth mesh together perfectly, chewing forces are distributed evenly, preventing structural damage. Using advanced 3D scanning technology, we can map the precise mechanics of your bite and design a custom orthodontic plan to guide your teeth into harmonious, healthy alignment.
